Shangla court awards death to four in murder case

SHANGLA: District and sessions judge here on Saturday handed down death sentence to four ‘contract killers’ and life imprisonment to five others for killing three brothers and their father over property dispute in Bagyar area of Puran in 2021.



According to the case of prosecution, the accused had entered the house of Gul Zareen at midnight and killed him and his three sons except a minor who was saved by the women by hiding him under the blankets.



A murder case was registered on the complaint of Gul Zareen’s daughter in 2021 at police station Alpuri, in which she had nominated her two step brothers Bakht Zaman and Phelwan for planning the murder of her father and brothers.



Sultan Rome advocate, the counsel of complainant party told Dawn that after rounds of trials, the court decided the case and awarded death four times and a fine of Rs 50,000 each to hired assassins Sayab, Sher Alam, Iqbal Hussain and Haji Nawab.



He said the court also sentenced accused Bakht Zaman and Phelwan, sons of slain Gul Zareen to life imprisonment for planning murder of their father and step brothers.



The other co-accused named Jafar Khan, Usman Ghani and Gul Nawab were sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50, 000 each for their part in the murder.



EIGHT INJURED: Eight people from two different groups sustained injuries after a clash erupted between them over a property dispute in Kikor area of Damorai in Kana tehsil.



Rescue 1122 spokesman Rasool Khan Sharif told Dawn that 8 people were injured in clash and they were taken to the district headquarters hospital .The local police lodged an FIR and began investigation.
