RDA governing body meets

Rawalpindi : The 45th meeting of Governing Body of RDA/WASA held in the conference room of RDA Rawalpindi. Chairman RDA Tariq Mehmood Murtaza chaired the governing body meeting, which was also attended by the newly appointed members of Governing Body including Haji Amjad MPA PP-13, Maj (r) Muhammad Latasub Satti MPA PP-6, Ms. Nasreen Tariq MPA (W-301), Muhammad Muqarab Ali Technical Expert/Member, Ch Muhammad Asghar Technical Expert/Member, Director General RDA Ammara Khan, MD WASA, DAF RDA, Representatives of Finance Department, HUD&PHE Department, P&D Department, Local Government Department, Commissioner Office Rawalpindi, Deputy Commissioner Office Rawalpindi, MCR and officers of RDA/WASA Rawalpindi.

Director General, RDA gave progress update on the ongoing development projects of RDA which include Ring Road Project and Nullah Leh Expressway. Chairman RDA also apprised the members about some new initiatives such as Kitchen Gardening, Rainwater harvesting etc.

In the 45th governing body meeting, LDA Building & Zoning Regulations 2019 with slight amendments were also adopted.

Islamabad: Ministry of Communications has taken pragmatic steps to implement the Axle Load Control regime on Motorways & National Highways in the country. Sole objective of this move is to control travelling of overloaded vehicles which lead to fatal accidents besides damaging the national asset of road network of billions of rupees.Prior to implementation of axle load control regime, a technical committee was formed, consisting of officers from Ministry of Communications and National Highway Authority which remained in constant contacts with transport community, Members of the Chambers of Commerce and stakeholders hailing from all the provinces. This technical committee visited their offices and held detailed discussions in series of meetings and took them into confidence to facilitate implementation of Axle Load Control regime. CJP questions how ‘clarification order’ made it to website

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has raised nine questions in a letter to the Supreme Court’s registrar, seeking clarification on how a Sept 14 clarification order was uploaded to the top court’s website. The Sept 14 order, issued by eight judges led by senior puisne judge Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, criticised the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for failing to implement the Supreme Court’s July 12 judgement, which declared the PTI eligible for reserved seats in parliament. In his letter dated Sept 21, the CJP wondered who directed the uploading of the Sept 14 clarification order on the Supreme Court’s website. His inquiry followed a note from the Deputy Registrar (Judicial), who flagged the issue of the order’s appearance on the website. The note questioned how the order was uploaded when no cause list had been issued, no notices had been sent to the parties, and the order had not been received by the deputy registrar’s office until 8pm on the...

NA secretariat list shows 80 PTI MNAs as SIC lawmakers despite SC reserved seats verdict

The National Assembly Secretariat has shown 80 PTI MNAs as part of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) in an updated list of the actual party positions in parliament’s lower house after accounting for the Supreme Court’s (SC) verdict in the reserved seats’ case, it emerged on Friday. In July, the top court declared the PTI eligible to receive reserved seats for women and non-Muslims in the national and provincial assemblies, giving it a new lease on life in the legislature by declaring it a parliamentary party. The SC dealt a further major blow to the PML-N-led coalition government on Saturday, as it reprimanded the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for not implementing its July 12 judgement, further complicating the Shehbaz Sharif-led administration’s efforts to secure the required numbers to pass a controversial Constitutional Package related to the judiciary.
