12 drug peddlers arrested

Islamabad : Islamabad Police have arrested 12 culprits during the last 24 hours in its crackdown against criminal elements and recovered narcotics, liquor and weapons from them, the police spokesman.

Following directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Aamir Zulfqar Khan, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Waqar Ud Din Syed issued directions to all zonal officers for renewed efforts against those involved in anti-social activities.

Owing these efforts, Bhar Kahu police arrested 03 accused namely Farhan, Noman Amjad and Muhammad Ahmed and recovered 08 wine bottles and one 30 bore illicit from their possession. Tarnol police arrested accused Ibrahim Khan and recovered one 30 bore pistol along with ammunition from him.

Shalimar police has arrested accused Ghulam Qadir and recovered 30 litres wine and one30 pistol along with ammunition from him. Homicide police arrested accused Mustafiez-Ur-Rehman and recovered one 30 bore pistol from him. Khanna police arrested accused Israr and recovered 110 gram heroin from him.

Koral police arrested accused Danish and recovered 290 gram hashish from him.

CIA police arrested 03 accused Sher bahadur Gul Nawaz and Umair and recovered three pistol 30 bore along with ammunition from their possession. Homicide police recovered 30 bore pistol from their possession of arrested accused Kamran.

Cases against all arrested accused have been registered and further investigation is underway from them.

DIG (Operations) Islamabad Waqar Uddin Syed has said that these social evils would be curbed and those backing those drug peddlers and professional beggars would be dealt with iron hand. He further emphasized that this campaign would continue till elimination of anti-social elements.

Islamabad: Ministry of Communications has taken pragmatic steps to implement the Axle Load Control regime on Motorways & National Highways in the country. Sole objective of this move is to control travelling of overloaded vehicles which lead to fatal accidents besides damaging the national asset of road network of billions of rupees.Prior to implementation of axle load control regime, a technical committee was formed, consisting of officers from Ministry of Communications and National Highway Authority which remained in constant contacts with transport community, Members of the Chambers of Commerce and stakeholders hailing from all the provinces.
