Report sought on misuse of playground

JHANG: The district administration Saturday sought a report from the District Sports Officer (DSO) for misuse of a playground.According to sources, the District Sports Office is handling the Shahfqat Shaheed public playground and paying electricity bills of the tube-well of the playground.Reportedly, the DSO for financial favours allowed a transportation company to use the playground. A private institution was also granted permission to hold a variety programme in the playground. There are reports of huge heaps of garbage after the function in the playground and pictures of the unauthorised activities and garbage in the playground also went viral. When contacted, DSO Muhammad Imran said he allowed the functions inside the playground with restriction not to damage grass of the playground.The district administration sought a report about holding private functions in playground.Anti-polio drive from Dec 16: A five-day anti-polio drive will start in the district from Dec 16.During the drive, 491,125 children would be administered anti-polio drops. A spokesman for the district administration said that 1,014 mobile teams, 97 fixed teams and 44 transit teams would perform duties under 85 supervisors and 85 medical officers.

CJP questions how ‘clarification order’ made it to website

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has raised nine questions in a letter to the Supreme Court’s registrar, seeking clarification on how a Sept 14 clarification order was uploaded to the top court’s website. The Sept 14 order, issued by eight judges led by senior puisne judge Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, criticised the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for failing to implement the Supreme Court’s July 12 judgement, which declared the PTI eligible for reserved seats in parliament. In his letter dated Sept 21, the CJP wondered who directed the uploading of the Sept 14 clarification order on the Supreme Court’s website. His inquiry followed a note from the Deputy Registrar (Judicial), who flagged the issue of the order’s appearance on the website. Islamabad: Ministry of Communications has taken pragmatic steps to implement the Axle Load Control regime on Motorways & National Highways in the country. Sole objective of this move is to control travelling of overloaded vehicles which lead to fatal accidents besides damaging the national asset of road network of billions of rupees.Prior to implementation of axle load control regime, a technical committee was formed, consisting of officers from Ministry of Communications and National Highway Authority which remained in constant contacts with transport community, Members of the Chambers of Commerce and stakeholders hailing from all the provinces. NA secretariat list shows 80 PTI MNAs as SIC lawmakers despite SC reserved seats verdict

The National Assembly Secretariat has shown 80 PTI MNAs as part of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) in an updated list of the actual party positions in parliament’s lower house after accounting for the Supreme Court’s (SC) verdict in the reserved seats’ case, it emerged on Friday. In July, the top court declared the PTI eligible to receive reserved seats for women and non-Muslims in the national and provincial assemblies, giving it a new lease on life in the legislature by declaring it a parliamentary party.
