ANP to mark Bacha Khan, Wali Khan’s death anniversaries in January

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) would hold the death anniversary events of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, commonly known as Bacha Khan, and Khan Abdul Wali Khan across the province in January 2020.The decision was taken at a meeting of the ANP’s provincial executive council at the Bacha Khan Markaz, the headquarters of the party.It was decided that the death anniversaries of the party leaders would be held in Peshawar on January 20, Malakand division January 26, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s southern districts on January 22, and Hazara division on January 24.The meeting decided to arrange stalls at the Bacha Khan Markaz to highlight the services of the party leaders for Pakhtuns. The meeting also discussed a visit of the provincial cabinet and other leaders to Jalalabad, Afghanistan where Bacha Khan was buried according to his will.It also decided to organise a peace march to Waziristan, with an aim to raise awareness about the peaceful nature of Pakhtuns.The ANP executive council announced that the efforts for securing the net hydel profit share of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from the federal government would be expedited.

Hours after javelin giant Arshad Nadeem won Pakistan’s first Olympics gold medal in 40 years, the Sindh government and Governor Kamran Tessori on Friday announced cash prizes worth Rs51m for the athlete.
