Girls outdo boys in FDE scholarship exams

Islamabad: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) announced the results of the fifth and eighth-grade scholarship examinations 2019 with the girls clinching top three positions.According to FDE director (exams) Sadia Adnan, the percentage of the fifth and eighth-grade exam results was 94.65 and 90.86, respectively.In the eighth grade exam, the first position was jointly claimed by Darosham Khan and Amna Ghaffar of the Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-6/2, by securing 670 marks, while the second and third positions went to Dure Shehwar and Yamna Sajjal of Islamabad Model College for Girls, G-9/3, with 665 and 664 marks, respectively.As for the fifth-grade exam, the Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-8-1, bagged all top three positions.Zara Zulfiqar stood first with 580 marks, Yashfa Arshad second with 579 marks and Arisha Shahid third with 578 marks.Overall, over 25,000 students sat the scholarship exams.Parliamentary Secretary for Federal Education and Professional Training Wajiha Akram gave away Rs10,000 cash prizes and shields to high-achievers.The overall first position holder got a cash prize of Rs50,000, second Rs40,000 and third Rs30,000.The results showed that the most fifth-grade scholarships (17) went to the privately-owned Hira Model School Sohan, 16 to the IMCG F-8/1 and 14 to the ICB G-6/3, while 43 eighth grade scholarships were claimed by Ali Trust College, 17 by IMCG F-6/2 and 14 by IMCG F-7/4. A total of 300 fifth graders, including 150 girls and boys each, and 200 students of eighth grade, including 100 girls and boys each, got the scholarships.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday paid tribute to an officer who embraced martyrdom during an exchange of fire in Tirah Valley’s Bagh area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Khyber district, the Prime Minister’s office said in a notification on Sunday.
