Student killed in road accident

HARIPUR: A schoolboy was killed in a road accident in the limits of Hattar Police Station here on Thursday.The villagers staged a protest and blocked the Hattar-Taxila road for over half an hour.According to police, Rizwan, a resident of Hattar village, was a student of 10th class at the Government Higher Secondary School Kotnajibullah.He was on way to Kotnajibullah by a passenger bus when he fell in front of the bus after losing his balance.“The bus crushed him and he died on the spot. Police have registered a criminal case against the driver under sections 279 and 320 of the Pakistan Penal Code,” he added.After the killing of the schoolboy, the infuriated villagers blocked Hattar-Taxila Road in protest, suspending the flow of traffic on both sides of the busy road. They chanted slogans against traffic police and Regional Transport Authority for their failure in controlling overloading and reckless driving.

CJP questions how ‘clarification order’ made it to website

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has raised nine questions in a letter to the Supreme Court’s registrar, seeking clarification on how a Sept 14 clarification order was uploaded to the top court’s website. The Sept 14 order, issued by eight judges led by senior puisne judge Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, criticised the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for failing to implement the Supreme Court’s July 12 judgement, which declared the PTI eligible for reserved seats in parliament. In his letter dated Sept 21, the CJP wondered who directed the uploading of the Sept 14 clarification order on the Supreme Court’s website. His inquiry followed a note from the Deputy Registrar (Judicial), who flagged the issue of the order’s appearance on the website. NA secretariat list shows 80 PTI MNAs as SIC lawmakers despite SC reserved seats verdict

The National Assembly Secretariat has shown 80 PTI MNAs as part of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) in an updated list of the actual party positions in parliament’s lower house after accounting for the Supreme Court’s (SC) verdict in the reserved seats’ case, it emerged on Friday. In July, the top court declared the PTI eligible to receive reserved seats for women and non-Muslims in the national and provincial assemblies, giving it a new lease on life in the legislature by declaring it a parliamentary party.
