13 joint research projects for mobility grant approved

Islamabad : The Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan and the Council of Higher Education (CoHE), Turkey have approved 13 joint research projects under Phase II of Pak-Turk Researchers Mobility Grant Programme to provide mobility support to researchers.The programme is one of the outcome of Turkish-Pakistani cooperation within the scope of efforts for internationalisation of higher education systems. Under this programme, new scientific and technological cooperation between Turkish and Pakistani higher education institutions will be developed by supporting mobility of graduate students and academic staff.Seventy applications were received in the wake of the second call for proposals under the programme and 33 of them met the eligibility criteria. After due deliberations and evaluations from experts, 13 applications were selected for award of mobility grant jointly by HEC and CoHE, Turkey.The researchers have their research domains in six priority areas including Energy, Food, Sustainable Environment Technologies, Material Sciences, Smart Transportation Systems, and Robots and Smart Systems.The successful researchers belong to University of Agriculture, Faisalabad; Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences; University of the Punjab, Lahore; Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences, Quetta; Government College University, Faisalabad; University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar; University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore; Lahore College for Women University, Lahore; University of Peshawar; University of Sargodha; COMSATS University, Islamabad; and Islamia College University, Peshawar.

Casualties feared in Dir clashes between FC, intruding militants: reports

LOWER DIR: Casualties are feared on both sides as militants from Afghanistan reportedly attacked Frontier Corps (FC) personnel at multiple locations at the Pak-Afghan border in Maidan area of Lower Dir district on Saturday, as per unconfirmed reports. According to local residents and official sources, there were reports of militants’ infiltration from the Afghan side via the Shahi border area at Lamotai Top, Suripao and Safarai forest. However, the reports were yet to be confirmed by Inter Services Public Relations, the military’s media wing. On getting information about the alleged infiltration, troops of the paramilitary force, FC, led by Captain Yasin, Captain Asfandiar and Subedar Hamza, advanced to block the militants’ movement, as per reports. SUKKUR: Slain journalist Nasrullah Gadani’s mother and two relatives have reiterated the allegation in statements recorded under Section 164 CrPC in a Mirpur Mathelo court that Pakistan Peoples Party’s MNA and his two sons had Nasrullah killed through their men.
