KHUZDAR: A man killed his father-in-law and brother in a gun attack that also left his wife and three others wounded in Khuzdar, on Saturday. Khuzdar SSP Abdul Aziz Jakhrani said a man along with armed assailants bragged into a house in the Khatan area of Khuzdar town and opened indiscriminate firing, resulting in the killing of Mohammad Ismail and his brother Hafiz Muhammad Younis on the spot. QUETTA: Five people were killed and 20 others including the driver were injured when a passenger coach fell into a roadside ravine along the Zhob-Islamabad highway near Dhanasar area of Sherani district of Balochistan, on Saturday. The passenger coach was on its way to Quetta from Islamabad via Dera Ismail Khan when the incident occurred. The coach reached the Dhanasar area. The driver lost control of the bus and it fell into the deep ravine. “Five passengers who were travelling in the coach have lost their lives while 20 others injured in the accident,” Sherani Deputy Commissioner Sana Mahjabeen Umrani said. QUETTA: Five Afghan nationals, including two brothers, died after inhaling poisonous gas in a coal mine in Shahrag coal field in Harnai district, on Saturday. Officials said that six coal miners went deep into a private coal mine early in the morning and started digging coal. During the dig­ging, poisonous methane gas accumulated ins­ide. They fell unconscious due to the accumulation of methane gas, levies officials said. When those outside the coal mine realized that there was no response from those inside the mine, they informed the contractor of the coal mine and officials of the chief inspectorate about the incident. Subsequently, rescue teams rushed to the site and launched an operation to rescue the miners. However, when the rescuers reached deep inside the mine, they found five miners dead. A suspect has been arrested for allegedly harassing a team of polio workers who were on duty in a Jamshoro neighbourhood, police said. Jamshoro Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Zaffar Siddiq Chhanga told Dawn.com that local residents allegedly stopped the team, led by health workers Amir Abro and Sanam Mallah, when they arrived in the area to administer polio drops to children. “The locals refused to let the team administer polio drops and hurled insults at them,” the SSP said. “One suspect was arrested and booked for interfering with government duties upon the complaint of the polio workers.” A case was registered at Jamshoro police station under Sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Two policemen were martyred and another injured in a planted bomb blast targeting officials in Kuchlak town near Quetta on Saturday, police said. Speaking to the media, Quetta’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Azhar Rashid said that the explosives were planted at the site of the incident beforehand and they exploded as soon as the police vehicle arrived. “Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Zainuddin and gunman Mohammad Tahir embraced martyrdom whereas the driver got injured and was moved to Mufti Mehmood Memorial Hospital”, DSP Rashid said. ISLAMABAD: PTI founder Imran Khan has claimed that Khyber Pakh­tunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was “picked up” by the military after the Sangjani rally and he is “showing grace” by not speaking on the issue.
