KHYBER/NORTH WAZIRIS­TAN: Three police personnel were injured in an explosion near their car in Tirah valley of Khyber district early on Monday. According to police, the incident occurred in the Serrai Kandaw area when an explosive device planted on the road detonated as the car carrying Khushal Amin, the in-charge of Serrai Kandaw check post, and two of his companions approached. The vehicle was badly damaged. The injured police personnel were shifted to a local hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger. RAWALPINDI: The revised PC-I of Rawalpindi Ring Road is likely to get the nod of the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) soon. A senior official of the RDA told Dawn that the provincial planning and development department had approved the revised PC-I, escalating the cost of the project from Rs31.3 billion to Rs38.3 billion. “The revised PC-I has now been referred to CDWP and if it also clears, the PC-I will get approval from Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec),” he said. The provincial government had released Rs6 billion in June for the project. Work on the project continues, but it may be delayed if the revised PC-I was not approved. BAJAUR: Relatives of a 14-year-old victim staged a protest demonstration against alleged negligence of doctors and medical staff of the district headquarters hospital Khar during his treatment here on Sunday. Besides the relatives, scores of villagers also participated in the protest after the death of boy in the morning hours. The protesters, who placed the dead body at the main gate of the hospital, alleged that the victim Amjid Khan, who was bitten by a stray dog several weeks ago, had died due to the negligence of the doctors and other medical staff. The protesters pointed out that soon after the victim was bitten by a stray dog in their Laghari area of Mamund tehsil, they had brought the deceased to the hospital for treatment. LAHORE: The Lahore police on Sunday arrested nine suspects, including two women, on charges of honey trapping, abducting and robbing renowned playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar. The incident came to light when he lodged a complaint with the Sundar police on July 20. According to the complaint, Qamar received a call from a woman, identified as Amna Urooj, late at night on July 15, inviting him to her house in Bahria Town to discuss a drama project.
