KP Assembly condemns atrocities in Indian Held Kashmir

KP universities’ admins, teachers resent ban on appointments

PESHAWAR: A recent decision of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government through the Higher Education Department to ban all kinds of appointments in the public sector universities owning to ‘financial crisis’ has caused resentment among the universities’ administrations as well as the teaching community.The government has been urged to withdraw the decision without delay. The vice-chancellors of the public sector universities held an emergency meeting on Thursday evening wherein the participants expressed reservations over the decision. They believed it would adversely affect the functioning of the universities, particularly at a time when all the institutions are stepping into a new academic session. MANSEHRA: The Sardar Said Ghulam, who had relinquished his responsibilities as district nazim, on Thursday said the district government had executed Rs1.2 billion development projects during his four-year term in the office.“I did whatever I could do for the betterment of people as a district nazim. PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani on Thursday ordered an inquiry into the alleged irregularities and malpractices in the Education Department after the opposition lawmakers protested against the remarks of advisor to the chief minister for education.Opposition leader Akram Khan Durrani claimed that he had solid proof of moral and financial corruption of some of the officials in the Education Department. Project launched for merged districts economic revitalization

Police to keep jirgas under check in Mansehra

MANSEHRA: District Police Officer Zaibullah Khan has banned the convening of jirgas by elders to settle cases anywhere in the district.“Henceforth nobody could a hold jirga except dispute resolution council (DRC) to settle any civil or criminal disputes, particularly related to women and children,” he told a meeting attended by members of DRC held here on Thursday.The DRC Chairman Sheeraz Mehmood Qureshi, who was present addressed the meeting as well.
